Who is this for?

This story-focused tour is for those who feel untethered to their heritage, are seeking healing, and hope to fill in mysterious gaps in family history or to reconnect/better understand their personal background. This tour is not just for travelers, but also for seekers - those who are looking to discover more about themselves and their place in the world.

Many participants are drawn to this tour because they have experienced a significant event or transition in their lives that has left them feeling lost or disconnected. This could be the loss of a loved one, a major life change, or simply a feeling of being stuck and wanting something more. They may also be looking for a way to honor and connect with important people from their past, such as a parent or grandparent.

This tour is for those who are willing to step out of their comfort zone and embrace the unknown. It is for individuals who believe that travel can be transformative and are seeking a unique and meaningful experience. Whether you are facing something difficult, looking to reconnect with yourself or your loved ones, or simply want to broaden your perspective, this tour is for you.

Why Origin Stories

Stories are powerful. They shape us, guide us, and define our perception of the world around us. And sometimes, they can also burden us with unresolved conflicts in our hearts that we carry from generation to generation. But it is through acknowledging, understanding, and making sense of these stories that we can transform them into sources of strength and resilience.

As individuals, we have a unique opportunity to change the narrative of inherited stories by tending to our own. Our hope and heart behind this tour is that you will begin to explore these origin stories with curiosity while in a safe and inspiring space.

Rooming

Several rooms have twin beds. One room has three beds. First come basis. We will assign roommates to these rooms if traveling independently. Several double occupancy rooms with a king bed are perfect for friends or couples who know each other. We have limited rooms set aside for single use.

Bethany Robbins: Story coach and group Facilitator

Bethany is a passionate facilitator who has dedicated her life to helping others journey through their own stories with curiosity and kindness. With a background in psychology and narrative-focused trauma care, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work.

In group settings, Bethany draws on her diverse experiences as a childbirth doula, foster parent, and world traveler to guide and support those who are seeking healing and growth. She has also been a valuable member of the Allender Center team, facilitating groups and providing training for therapists and lay counselors.

Currently, Bethany trains counselors at a residential rehabilitation home for girls who have been sexually abused and trafficked. Her work, whether in a one-on-one setting or in group facilitation, is characterized by empathy, professionalism, and a profound commitment to the well-being of others. Bethany continues to be a source of hope, guiding individuals out of the shadows of their traumas and into the light of healing and restoration.

When she's not facilitating groups, Bethany can often be found reading aloud to children in her home library which she shares with the community (her happy place). She also loves traveling the world with her family, will read any book recommended to her, and is always prepared for a dance party in the kitchen.

Bethany resides in Nkhoma, Malawi with her husband and 3 children.

KYLE CAMPBELL: sudden journeys HOST and TRAVEL GUIDE

Meet Kyle, a wandering spirit born under the Southern skies of Tennessee. Kyle is not just a seasoned traveler, but a passionate wayfarer whose love for exploration was fostered by her parents from a young age. Over the last two transformative decades, Kyle evolved as a destination specialist, tour director, and passionate travel guide, leading student and small groups throughout the picturesque locales of Europe and the US.

Kyle knows firsthand the transformative impact travel can have on an individual. She is dedicated to creating immersive experiences within intimate settings that expand worldviews, soften hearts, and foster meaningful cross-cultural connections. She invites you to feel the pulse of places, to linger longer, and to encourage a curiosity for the world.

Simultaneously, she has spent a significant part of her career serving displaced peoples and refugees, weaving their stories and struggles into her teachings of history and global perspectives while inspiring and challenging her travelers to not consume and collect travel experiences but rather how do these experiences inform their lives and influence how they engage others in their communities once home.

The driving force before this one-of-a-kind tour is a combination of her refugee work, deep-rooted love for history, a desire to uncover the stories of our ancestors, and an insatiable curiosity about the world. It's an invitation for each of us to explore our own family narratives, make sense of our personal histories, and experience a profound sense of freedom that comes from understanding our past.

And even as she continues to embark on new adventures, Kyle's home base remains an 18th-century farmhouse nestled in the picturesque English countryside.
