ACCOMMODATIONS | Georgian Country Estate House
Uncover the magic of a luxurious and private country estate in Exmoor. An enchanting tree-lined avenue leads to a beautiful homestay nestled in private woodlands on an estate of over three thousand acres. A large manor, cozy as a cottage. A moorland hideaway, close to the bustling North Devon coast.
Step behind the formal façade and find your every comfort catered for, with underfloor heating, a Sonos sound system and high-speed broadband.
Timeless elegance suffuses the living rooms. Sit before an open fire, tapestry rugs at your feet, antique dressers behind you and beautiful artworks on the walls. Gather in the drawing room, library or dining room, or chat over the kitchen island with a glass or two of English wine, produced on the manor’s sister estate in Herefordshire.
Outside, play tennis or croquet on the lawns, where there’s a marquee pitch too and a ha-ha. Explore the 6,000 acre moorland estate, where red deer roam, and sea eagles, otters and Exmoor ponies make their home. Go fishing, wild swimming and walking and when you return, relax and soak up the spectacular views.
The bedrooms are restful and appealing, with an abundance of four-posters, as well as luxury ensuite bathrooms and moorland views.
KYLE CAMPBELL: sudden journeys HOST and TRAVEL GUIDE
Meet Kyle, founder of Sudden Journeys—a seasoned travel guide and storyteller born in Tennessee and shaped by more than two decades of leading intimate journeys across Europe and the U.S. Her work blends deep historical curiosity, a reverence for place, and years spent alongside displaced peoples and refugees, whose stories continue to inform how she understands migration, identity, and belonging. Kyle designs travel not as consumption, but as encounter—experiences meant to expand worldviews, soften hearts, and invite reflection on how where we come from shapes how we live and love today. When she’s not on the road, she calls an 18th-century farmhouse in the English countryside home.
Why This Tour Is Special
This is not a tour designed to rush you from highlight to highlight rather it is an invitation to slow down and be held by the landscape. Set on a private country estate in Exmoor, the rhythm of the journey balances wild beauty with deep rest: moorland mornings, fireside evenings, long meals, and unhurried conversations.
You’ll travel through some of England’s most storied and atmospheric places… from windswept moors and dramatic Cornish cliffs to medieval villages and hidden market towns while leaving space for solitude, reflection, and choice.
With intimate group size and women only, thoughtful pacing, and moments of true stillness woven throughout, this experience is for those who crave connection over consumption, presence over performance, and a kind of travel that lingers long after you return home.

Turning inland, the landscape opens into the haunting expanse of Bodmin Moor, stopping at the storied Jamaica Inn, long associated with smugglers and legend. In the afternoon, we visit Knightshayes Court and Gardens, a striking Gothic Revival mansion surrounded by richly designed Victorian gardens; romantic, unexpected, and full of detail.
